Projects included: major redesign of the Utah Population Database, one of the most important collection of family history data anywhere; cancer patient registries and tracking systems for various cancer clinics; and a DNA sequencing and genotyping LIMS. Also responsible for the IT infrastructure and computer support team for the Institute, and the network and telecommunications systems for a new, state-of-the-art research facility.

Held various positions on the GenBank DNA Sequence Database project at Los Alamos, including Director. Created the first version of the GenBank database built using relational database technology, and converted the data collection operation from manual data entry to direct author submission, dramatically improving overall performance. Member of Human Genome Information Resource group, which developed software tools for genome mapping.
